Your health matters. It is your future. Your emotional wellbeing deserves the same level of care as your physical wellbeing. They are inextricably linked.

The demands on our time are increasing; diagnosis of mental and physical illness, and chronic conditions are rising against a limited service provision from our health services. Securing a diagnosis or referral from your GP is often a long-term process and in that time, your health continues to suffer. The benefits of counselling and psychotherapy are proven and continue to be researched as clinical methods to reduce the impact of psychological, and linked physical illness.
I am Vicky Begg, your counsellor and psychotherapist.

How did I become a counsellor? Slowly. Carefully. I took my time and here I am. As your counsellor I hope to bring my learned skills, natural character and life experiences to help you find a way to better health. The skills that will be most relevant include being a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, PG DipCBT, holding an MSc in Psychology of Sport and a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills. It’s also important to include the skills that set me apart and define me. I am a Level 3 Triathlon Coach, a coach educator and hold a BDes and MA in Printed Textile Design. My abilities to think creatively, observe and see you, listen and hear you, to try, fail, succeed and test new experiences have allowed me to see how life can be rich, varied and as Forrest Gump put it, “Like a box of chocolates.”
We are individuals and deserve to be treated with care, positivity, and empathy whatever our aims, hopes, and aspirations. We all need support. While my background is in working with people involved in sport, the reasons we have worked together are the same reasons I work with any client; improving your life, empowerment, building self-esteem and confidence, overcoming difficulties, and bringing clarity to overwhelming or confusing situations.
During my training, I found a special interest in working with people with complex conditions such as Autism and ADHD, food-related and eating disorders, menopause, and those recovering from or dealing with trauma. In addition to this, I naturally lean towards helping clients with anxiety-based issues linked to social or performance environments.
I am a member of COSCA, BACP and UK Coaching. You can also find my profile on Psychology Today.
